How to scrap your car in Watford
If you’ve got a scrap car in or near Watford it’s easy to have it scrapped for free.
- Contact us and let us know the details of your scrap car and arrange a time for us to tow it away.
- We take the logbook and tow away the vehicle at the time you have arranged. Alternatively, you can send the logbook to us before hand. (If you are not in possession on the logbook for the scrap car, we are still able to tow it away, but you will need to tell us beforehand and you will need to contact the DVLA in writing to let them know you are having the car scrapped.)
- You get an intent of destruction certificate as well as section 9 of the logbook back.
- You are advised to send the section 9 to the DVLA at this point.
- We send the rest of the logbook to the DVLA and inform them that the vehicle is off the road (make a SORN) and can be de-registered.
- You should receive notification from the DVLA within about 4 to 6 weeks.
What do we do with your scrap car once we’ve towed it away?
After we have towed away your scrap car we first remove any parts that may be reused in some way, this commonly includes things such as the tyres and the battery. We then separate out the parts that can be recycled such as the catalytic converter. We remove any hazardous parts from your scrap car as well as any fuel left in the fuel tank. Finally, the vehicle is ready to be crushed.
